Avolove My Avotoast

Posted on Posted in Lifestyle

You know how when you’re traveling, you have a craving for the foods you eat at home? Well I have been craving a good avocado toast for some time now! I love being back home and having access to a well-stocked kitchen and a grocery store full of my favorite foods. As soon as I returned home, I got busy in the kitchen making some avotoast. Because I avolove my avotoast! Corny? Cute? Maybe both? Either way, it’s delicious!

I bought a few avocados because you can never be too sure whether they’ll be the perfect amount of ripeness. A good way to test them in the store is to take off the stem and see if the skin beneath is green, and to give them a light squeeze to see if they’ve softened a bit. Choosing the perfect avocado is an art, it takes time to master.

For the toast, I chose a hearty wholewheat bread fortified with ancient grains. I love having the crunch of amaranth, quinoa, sorghum, flaxseeds, and teff in the bread, it’s an extra boost of healthy grains. On top of a piece of toast, I load up half of the avocado and spread it around with a fork (if it’s not soft enough to do that then it’s not soft enough to use!). Then I sprinkle on some salt and pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. And I finish it off with a squeeze of lemon juice. It’s the perfect addition of flavor to the healthy and creamy avocado on top of the crunchy toast! You can use whatever spices you like but those are my go-to favorites. It’s healthy and delicious, and now that I’m writing about it I think I actually want to go make another one! Avolove my avotoast, do you too?!

  1. This looks super yummy. I wanted to make guacomole the other day but one avocado in the France grocerystore was around $2.50!! So I stuck to my crummy diet of French bread and butter haha. I’ll have to keep my eye out on cheaper avocados so I can make this avotoast because avolove avocado!! 🙂
