Maybe you’re late to the Airbnb game, or maybe your memo got lost in cyberspace, but Airbnb is for sure the coolest way to stay when you travel. This service allows folks to rent out their space, whether it be a couch, a room, or a whole house. And then you, the lucky traveler, pay to stay in what is a B&B-like accommodation with the most local vibes. It’s great because you get to avoid the crowds and stay in a real neighborhood, the place feels instantly like home, and your host is a local source of information and recommendations. I love it and I always try to stay in Airbnb’s when I travel.
So, when I was sorting out my plans for Ushuaia, Argentina (read more about all there is to do in this city at the End of the World, here), I went straight to airbnb.com. I’ve stayed in some cool ones before, but when I saw this listing, I knew it was going to be good. I was almost more excited to stay in the house than to visit the city! And it absolutely lived up to expectations!
The cabin was made of the finest materials, all beautiful stone and wood beams. From the jacuzzi tub to the stone fireplace, and sweeping views over the city, I fell in love instantly. The rustic charm of the cabin was comfortable and relaxing. A few minutes from the crazy crowds of downtown, it was the perfect retreat at the end of the day. And the place comes with an adorable cat that likes to hang out on the porch.
Kospi, the owner, is lovely. She is so friendly and welcoming that I felt I was arriving to visit family. She offered me maps and lots of information of what to do in the area, and then was available by phone for any questions throughout my stay.
I truly did not want to leave, and I would stay here again if I have the chance to re-visit Ushuaia. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Ushuaia, you need not look further than here. (UPDATE: This cabin has moved off of airbnb and can now be booked directly at cabanasdelbeagle.com.)
And if you’re looking to find an Airbnb for a trip to a different destination, you can use this link to get $20 off your booking when you sign up as a new member. Trust me, it’s the best way to stay!
