Maybe you’ve traveled to Asia, or maybe you haven’t. But I promise you this, you’ve never seen anything like South Korea! This little country packs a big punch and I was totally blown away and impressed when I visited. You’ll know that if you follow me on social media, because it was a pretty exciting journey for me! So I’m here to convince you to visit South Korea because I thought it was amazing and I want you to experience that too…here are my top 5 reasons for you to visit South Korea:
Top 5 Reasons to Visit South Korea
- It’s the new player in Asia
We’ve all heard for years about our friends going off to visit Japan and China, and even Southeast Asia has become quite popular. But the new player to the travel scene in Asia is South Korea. It’s a country and culture that’s ready and waiting for you to explore! Get on the cutting edge of travel with this new and hot destination.
- The most unique food in Asia
South Korea is somewhat isolated from the rest of Asia, since it’s on a peninsula and isn’t on speaking terms with its neighbors to the north. So it’s cuisine is not at all influenced by the rest of Asia, and is therefore totally unique. I’ve never had anything like it, and everyday there was like a culinary experiment for me! - You will not be crowded by tourists
Korea hasn’t been hit as a major tourist destination (yet!) so it’s not super crowded or overdone, even at the traditionally touristy places (think: border with North Korea). If you hate being shuffled about in crowds and competing for that photo op with everyone and their selfie stick, then South Korea is the place for you!
- Everyone is so polite and formal
It absolutely blew me away how kind and polite and formal everyone was in Korea! It’s just part of their culture that they will always be polite and respectful. It’s important to them. And I really quite miss that now that I’ve left! Check out the rest of my culture shocks found in Korea, here.
- Come for the culture
If you’re looking for the major sights and attractions of Asia, like palaces and temples and shrines, then Japan does them better and China does them bigger. But Korea has a fascinating and complex culture, only one layer of which is the meeting of ancient traditions and modern cutting edge trends. Try to keep up and understand this unique culture when you visit South Korea!
Are you ready to pack your bags yet? I definitely think you should visit South Korea, and SOON! If you’ve gone, what were your reasons for visiting South Korea? If you’re planning a trip there, why do you want to visit South Korea?
